Excellent textbook! very thorough and clear explanation of reinforced concrete theory, analysis and design. I strongly recommend it to professors and students, it is based on ACI 318-14. I adopted it for my Reinforced Concrete Design Course at the University of Illinois at Chicago for Fall 2015 semester.

Capture me!

This book was a Hot, quick read. It had many funny moments too!

Lili was a strong stubborn woman and Cade and his wolves were not prepared for her nature! Cade was used to people doing what he said without question. Lili was a surprise even before he found out that they grabbed the wrong woman!

Unfortunately, all of his scheming gets him into trouble with Lili. Watching Cade squirm and try to figure out how to fix his mistakes was great.

I Loved this book! If you like steamy werewolf books, you must give this one a try.

Muy caliente! Milly Taiden doesn't disappoint. Scorching hot novella with a bite and a lot of sass

Liliana Rojas' stubborn streak is about to bite her in the rear. Her cousin Jaylin just had to be different by insisting on having a winter wonderland wedding out in the middle of nowhere. And so Lili finds herself in her car rushing to make it there on time. If she hadn't been fiddling with her radio, she would have noticed the man standing in the middle of the road. When she goes to check on the stranger, she witnesses something she's only seen in horror movies.

Cade Wynter is in the mood for a little pay back. Five years ago, his ex-fiancee claimed to have been having an affair with his best friend. When he hears that his best friend is about to get married, he hatches a plan to kidnap the bride. One look at Lili, one touch, one kiss, and Cade knows he has found his mate. The attraction between them is fast and furious, but when he discovers that he has made a huge mistake, he stands to lose her before he really had her. As if that weren't enough of a problem, he also has to deal with his brother Cyrus. Cyrus will stop at nothing to hurt Cade in order to take over the pack, and that includes going through Lili.

I got my first taste of Milly Taiden's writing, dealing with wolf shifters, in her short story, Mate Event in the Halloween Heat III Anthology. I love that when her wolves shifters mate, they like to bite ;) This story was no different. I found the push and pull of their attraction and their dialogues highly amusing.

Lili is full of spirit and sass, and I loved every minute of her mouthing off to Cade. She doesn't take well to being bossed around, and she isn't afraid to put him in his place.On the flip side, I loved Cade being struck dumb that she would dare talk back to him. He's used to getting his way, not only as the pack leader, but also as a male. When Lili doesn't cower to him, she just intrigues him more with each passing minute.

If you love short, scorching hot wolf shifter loving with some bite, one tough heroine and a sexy alpha male, then you won't want to miss this.

She did it again

I waited patiently for this book for months. Having read all of Suzan Tisdale books I knew this was a sure hit and I was not disappointed. She makes you feel all of lady Arlene's pain. Also all of Rowan's as well. The way she writes each book can be a stand alone or do like me and start with Laden's Daughters and work your way to this one. I must admit I have read a lot of Highlander books and I think Suzan Tisdale ranks up with Hannah Howell.

Another hard to put down book from this author!

This book took me through so many emotions....laughing, sniffling, giggling, tearing up. But it held my attention throughout the entire book and was hard to put down so I could get my household chores done! The evil bad guys were so believable I wanted to smack them myself. The hero was many things, sad, inspiring, strong and wonderful. But Rowan's Lady was totally amazing! Thank you for yet another great book Suzane!

another wonderful story

I enjoyed this book so much. It's wonderful to spend time with do many of the same characters.
Rowan and Arline have been through some very trying times.

Rowan had to finally marry the woman from an arranged marriage. Kate was a very loving young woman and she and Rowan shared a short marriage. They did have a daughter together but Kate died along with many from the clan. Lily is kidnapped and Rowan goes to find her.

Arline is trying to get through a year of marriage to Garrick of Blackthorne. This is her third marriage. All have been arrainged by her father and they haven't been good. This last one has left her hurt, bruised and bleeding several times. At the end of the year, Garrick promises that she can leave.

In the meantime, Garrick who hates Rowan, kidnaps Lily and decides that Arline can care for her.arline finds a way for them both to escape, however, Rowan and his men find a way into Garrick's castle and they rescue Lily. Arline tells them to leave without her and she leaves on her own. It's the middle if the night, she is walking down the road when a few of Garrick's men decide that they want her.

Lily keeps crying for Arline because they have become so close in the time they have had together. Rowan and his men find Arline and rescue her. They take her to Rowan's castle.

So many things are working against Rowan and Arline. Wanna be wives of Rowan and Arline's father to name a few.

Please read this book. Start with Laiden's Daughter and enjoy each of these wonderful stories. You will laugh. You will cry and you will smile.

About the Author

Mark Guthrie is the men's track and field head coach at the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse, where he maintains a national championship-caliber program year after year. His teams have won 17 Division III championships and 28 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles since he took over the program in 1986. Guthrie began his coaching career in 1975 at the high school level, where he led his teams to three consecutive state cross country championships. Guthrie's success earned him the United States Track Coaches Association's National Coach of the Year Award in 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. He was named Regional Coach of the Year seven times and is currently the president of the USTCA for Division III. He and his wife, Dawn, enjoy traveling, boating, and attending their daughters' athletic events.

Helpful, bit out of date

This is very helpful for a head coach, it gives an overview of all aspects of track. The book is a bit out of date but most things still apply, being that running doesn't change, just the kids and equipment. Great book

I thought that this book gave good information for the beginning coach. The workouts can be adjusted to fit the needs
of the middle school and high school athlete. The only improvement would be to put more step-by-step illustrations for the field
events as the event is being attempted.

Shinn's new novel of Samaria, where angels and humans cohabit, is set in the time of rebuilding after the chaos of former archangel Raphael's fall and is told through the intertwining stories of the mortals Elizabeth and Rebekah and the angel Obadiah. Elizabeth, forced by circumstances to be a servant in her cousin's house, leaves abruptly for the new community of Cedar Hills, where she hopes to take an angel lover. Rebekah, a young Jansai woman, is dissatisfied with her life but sees no alternatives to it. Obadiah is sent by Gabriel to live in Cedar Hills and negotiate with the Jansai over issues surrounding the now-forbidden enslavement of the Elori tribes. Injured over the desert, Obadiah is found by Rebekah, who tends him and has her life turned upside-down. From Elizabeth's discovery that an angel is perhaps not the kind of lover she seeks to the fracturing of Jansai custom when Rebekah nearly dies for the crime of being loved by an angel, a solid read. Good, but left the series hanging...

This was the fifth and final book in Shinn's Samaria series. It's not that it reached any definitive conclusion to the series, just that it was the last one written and that the author has said she has no plans to write more of them.

I enjoyed it. It seemed to have a bit of a political message, but it was one I agree with.

All of these Samaria books are interesting blends of SF, fantasy, and romance. The SF bit is that we're living in a world that is specifically not Earth but a distant colony of Earth in some equally distant future. The fantasy bit is that we're living in a world with angels living amongst the mortals of the world, and there is no doubt about the reality of Jovah, their god. They can sing prayers and get results, anything from manna falling from the heavens to lightning bolts blasting at the desired target. And the romance... well, in some ways I would say that they are all romance books merely set in an odd SF/fantasy world.

This book has two romances. The first is between an ambitious girl and... well, I won't say with whom. She is determined to marry an angel and give birth to an angel child. I won't say whether or not she succeeds, but I will say that her romance is more about finding herself than whether or not she actually marries an angel. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, mostly for her character arc.

The second romance was between an angel and a young Jansai girl. The Jansai are one of the many cultures populating the world of Samaria, and they seem to be remarkably similar to certain Earth cultures, particularly in how they treat their women. They treat their women as cherished property, but they can also be quite vicious to their women if they step outside their defined roles. And sexual promiscuity pretty much carries the death penalty, i.e. stoning and exile to the lifeless desert.

Anyway, this second romance dealt a lot with the politics around that kind of culture. Many or most of the men seem to be quite happy to hand out these harsh punishments. Some are disgusted by it but seem powerless to stop the overall harshness. The women are mixed between those who support it simply because it's what they know, those who hate it but find can only fight it in tiny rebellions, and those who would flagrantly flaunt the law of their male masters.

Shinn ultimately comes down hard on this culture, so there is some politics here, but like I said, I agree with her position. As for the romance, I mostly found myself shouting at the young Jansai girl to get out while the getting is good, but I confess that seeing her reluctance to leave the only world she knew gave me some insight into how many women on Earth tolerate or even reinforce these cultures here on Earth. So while parts of it made my skin crawl, it did expand my horizons.

Now, that's all about how I liked the book for what it was. However, I do have a little complaint about what the book wasn't, and that's no fault of the book. What bugged me was where it fell in the Samarian timeline.

The first three books in this series proceeded along in chronological order. Then the fourth book jumped to a time long before the first, and then this one was just after the first. That would be all right except that the third book - the furthest along in the timeline - kind of ended on a cliffhanger. There had been some major change in the world, and I was left wondering what was going to happen next. After two more books, I still don't know because nothing has been written in the time after the third book, and from the sounds of it, nothing will be.

As such, the series feels unfinished to me. I don't know if the publisher just gave up on it, or if the author herself doesn't know what comes next. Either way, I'm cranky that I never quite got a sense of resolution to this series.

Exquisitely Written; thought-provoking - technology, beleif systems, society and religion

This is my favorite of the five books in the Samaria series. The writing is quite exquisite. The book is quite though-provoking as well from perspectives of technology, society, beliefs and religion.

sadder than the first 4 but better than the third

I love this series...it is definately on my "comfort shelf". My least favorite is the third. This one is probably not good for youth readers...it has some serious adult topics. It really gets into the life of angel seekers and the promiscuity of that group of people. The Janasi have a very arabic/muslim feel and the book is pretty slanted against them. Overall the book was much heavier and more...dare I say it...political than the first four. I'd recommend it to those of a stout heart and moderate shock value/life experience.

it covers all areas of the syllabus in a precise and meticulous way and give you the advice on how to be well prepared and presented in the oral exam as well as for the primary exam as it hits the MCQ secrets with out too much explanations that make you get bored. Remember you should not miss any of its questions because it is the least but the adequate

There are small factual errors that I could find but should be obvious to anyone who uses standard texts. The explanations are top notch and help with the understanding of the standard texts. A must read for anyone taking the primary exams! It certainly helped me!

Over the past decade or so, singing in Czech has become more and more accepted, and one might even say popular. A big part of this change was Timothy Cheek’s 2001 publication of Singing in Czech, which not only provided an explanation of Czech lyric diction, but also gave IPA transcriptions and both word for word and idiomatic English translations of many Czech songs and arias. This book opened up the world of Czech art song to American singers in a wonderful way. It has been nearly fifteen years since the publication of that volume, and now Cheek has published a revised and somewhat expanded edition.... If, like me, you are excited by the inclusion of new repertoire, or if you do not already possess the 2001 edition, then Singing in Czech: A Guide to Czech Lyric Diction and Vocal Reper- toire, Revised Edition, available in soft cover and ebook, is well worth the money. It is a vital reference for anyone who wishes to sing in Czech or who has students who wish to do so, and it would make an excellent text for a class on Czech diction and/or repertoire. Here we are, nearly 15 years later, and Tim has done it again! I would not have thought it possible, but this maestro of all things Czech has actually improved and enhanced the new edition of his iconic book. These intervening years of teaching and coaching all over the world have taught the author where clarification and enhancement were needed, and he gladly supplies them here. He has added more songs, and he has chosen to spotlight worthwhile composers not known outside the Czech Republic. Timothy Cheek has outdone himself! The original version of this book was excellent already – a must-have for any Czech enthusiast or teacher of singing. This revised edition is even better, lots of useful additions and song texts/IPA. Can't wait to put it to good use!
